EXAMS ARE OVER!!!!

A Far Cry from ME (improvisation from A Far Cry from Africa by Derek Walcott)

A wind is ruffling
the usual peace of the school.
Students, quick as flies
eyes glued on the book in front
Notes are scattered on the table
Only the slacker, failure of exams, cries:
"Waste no compassion on this useless knowledge!"
Statistics justify and teachers seize
The salients of exam policy
What is that to the innocent student piled with stress?
To educators, expendable as litter

Surrounded by four walls, the air-con blows
In a silent creepy hall where noise
is prohibited to the maximum level
From Bishan or anywhere in Singapore
The exams of the education system is read
As natural law, but upright graduates
seek their divinity by inflicting homework
Stressed as these delirious innocence, his study plans
Clashes with the pre-planed schedule of the school
While he calls courage still the innocent dread
Of the frightening exams contracted by the MOE

Again brutish necessity wipes its hands
Upon the napkin of a dirty cause, again
A waste of our compassion, as with exams,
The gorilla wrestles with the superman,
I who am poisoned with the blood of both,
Where shall I turn, divided to the vein?
I who have cursed
The mad person who invented exams, how choose
Between studying and failing?
Betray them both, or give back what they give?
How can I face such stess and be cool?
How can I turn from exams and live?

Well...Exams are over and i have 6 daes to enjoy meself before going back to sch to be demoralised. Anw, exams aren't that hard cept for a few papers, just hope that L1R5 would not be too high, best if its a single digit:) Just and interesting thought : Is the coffin too big for the hole or is the hole too small for the coffin? Take the coffin to be our expectations and the hole to be the reality. Are our expectations of life too large for reality and is reality too small to hold our expectations. The higher you aim, the higher you fall.....think bout it
